Eagleville’s magical season ended with a 40-14 loss to Columbia Academy in the second round of the TSSAA Class 2A playoffs on Friday.
Junior quarterback Ethan Cobb uncharacteristically struggled, throwing for 37 yards and running for 20. Cobb scored one of the Eagles’ two touchdowns, with Graham Hatcher’s 70-yard kickoff return accounting for the other.
Running back Antonio Turrentine ran eight times for 71 yards.
CA took an early 6-0 lead after Tre Davidson’s 17-yard scoring run, though the Eagles blocked the point-after.
Josh Cook added a 5-yard scoring run, and Columbia Academy extended the lead to 12 after the 2-point conversion failed.
A Blake Kleinke interception return, followed by another failed 2-point conversion, made that an 18-point lead. That held at half.
After winning two games last year, Eagleville went 9-3 this season.
