Smyrna K-Mart Among 64 Stores Closing

The K Mart in Smyrna is among 68 K-Marts closing at the end of the year. This is the second set of closures for the  chain. Partner Sears is supposed to announce 17 more store closings soon.

Thousands will be out of work just in time for Christmas. Liquidation sales begin tomorrow and stores are expected to have the doors closed well before Christmas. Sears stores will close by January 17.

Moody’s analysts sent out a report Wednesday saying Sears and Kmart are likely to shut down, and will need to rely on outside funding or sell assets to stay afloat.

This makes over 2,500 K-Mart stores closing doors since 2014.
