Picture this, a plump, moist gluten-free devil’s food cake doughnut blanketed in cream cheese glaze infused with cherry essence; drizzled with creamy chocolate fudge and topped with a fresh cherry.

Maybe you are thinking of something with a little kick? Try the Stellar Moscato. A yeast-raised donut smothered in white chocolate ganache, topped with a swirl of wine-infused raspberry butter cream frosting, and topped with a fresh raspberry.

How about a Spiced Apple Pie? A plain raised doughnut, drizzled with in-house-made spiced apple cider and caramel reduction topped with a buttery ginger snap crumble.

Project Doughnuts is not about the mundane doughnut. These powerhouse doughnuts are gourmet delights that are little bits of artwork.

Re-opening earlier this fall after closing during the pandemic, they offer doughnuts and a coffee bar with a recently opened drive-thru window.

“We carefully hand-craft every one of our doughnuts in small batches daily,” explains their website. Then their decorating team uses house-made glazes and toppings to turn each doughnut into a mouthwatering sculpture of hard-to-resist perfection.

Doughnuts can be paired with a cup of coffee made from locally-roasted Brass Horn Coffee Roasters. They offer Expresso, Cortado, Cappuccino, Americano, Lattes, Cuban, Mocha and just plain old drip coffee. They also offer Hot Chocolate, Matcha, Chai, London Fog and Rhishi.

“Finally got to visit Project Donuts,” said one reviewer, “is this a donut or pastry shop? …[T]he first one I tried was the Spiced Apple Pie. OMG it was incredible! This had all of the wonderful flavors of Fall and tasted like a pie without the crust. The donut part was light and airy but held up all of the toppings and allowed you to eat … without a fork. When my daughter and grandchildren came over to sample the rest of the collection everything was delicious! The raspberry filled is probably the best filled donut I’ve ever tasted and the sprinkle donuts did not have a long lifespan. LOL. What was impressive is the donuts were not overly sweet, but you will get your RDA of sugar plus! They even have a case of Gluten Free donuts. My box of nine donuts was a bit more than you would pay for “standard” donuts elsewhere, but these are well worth the price.”

“Delicious donuts are freshly made every day,” said another reviewer. “Soft and doughy like donuts should be. You won’t regret a visit and you’ll definitely be hooked! My kids love them. They have a large selection of flavors and unique toppings. Gluten free options and vegan, too! Wonderful espresso and coffee bar.”

Doughnuts sell out quickly, so get there early if you want a Salted Caramel Doughnut, because right now they are the bomb!
