OBITUARY: Emma Jean Vaught-Whitworth

Emma Jean Vaught Whitworth, age 87, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Stones River Manor.

She was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and was a member of Lascassas Church of Christ. She retired from Rutherford County Board of Education after 24 years of service.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis R. and Mollie Mae Bowen Floyd; husbands, James Elmer Vaught and Howard Jackson Whitworth; and sister, Evelyn Sauls.

She is survived by her son, Randy (Wilma) Vaught; daughter, Cathy (Jim) Vaught Corder; brother, Willie (Maylene) Floyd; sister, Betty (Jerry) McCullough; grandchildren, James (Laura Kay) Corder, Clinton (Laura) Corder, and Amanda R. Vaught; and great-grandchildren, Callen, Ryan, and Nolan Corder.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.

Chapel service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stones River Manor. The family would like to thank Stones River Manor for the loving care they provided to Emma Jean for the past six years.
