Special Statement From RC Schools About Effects Of Wreck On Schedule

Hello parents,

This is James Evans with Rutherford County Schools and we have an update for those parents with students at the two Buchanan schools, the two Christiana schools and Riverdale related to the hazardous materials fire this morning in the area of Epps Mill Road.

All the schools are safe and the students are not in any danger. However, we do want to ensure you know that traffic has been severely impacted because of the closure of Interstate 24. The traffic situation will likely affect some bus routes this afternoon and may cause delays. In addition, parents who pick up their children will want to leave earlier than normal, if possible. The Director of Schools has approved parents picking up their children early, but again please be aware of the heavy traffic, especially along Highway 41 in the Buchanan community.
