Stephen “Herb” Lester, age 69, passed away at his residence September 21, 2018.
He was born in Rutherford County, attended Lascassas and graduated from Central High School; received his Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from MTSU then a Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Extension Education of UT in 1973. Herb worked as County Extension Agent in Cobb County, GA; Assistant Extension Agent with the 4H in Knox County; County Extension Agent in Fulton County, GA; County Extension Leader in Davidson County; and Regional Director. He was a member of Bradley’s Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed beekeeping, photography, gardening, and his cats. Herb fought a hard battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. Special thanks to his lifelong doctor, Dr. Wesley Clark Ray.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Dayton and Etta Moore Lester; and sister, Sharon Martin. He is survived by his wife, Pat Lester; brother, Hugh (Barbara) Lester of Lascassas; nephew, Shane Martin; nieces, Ginger Martin Atkins, Dana Lester, Amanda Lester Ward, Emily Lester Cauthen; several great nieces and great nephews; and special friend, Lewis McKee.
Visitation with the family will be 11:00 AM until time of church service at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 24, 2018 at Bradley’s Creek Baptist Church, Lascassas, TN with Troy Dugger officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley’s Creek Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
