Samuel Clark Gannon, age 89, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Stones River Manor.

Mr. Gannon was born in Cannon County on January 26, 1933. He was the son of the late George Wash and Zelma Rollins Gannon. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Gannon, brothers, S.R. Gannon and Jesse (Marie) Gannon and his four sisters, Mazelle Stacey (James), Georgia Porter (Tom), Sue Patton (Spencer) and Rosie Patton (James).

Mr. Gannon is survived by his faithful wife of 68 years, Elsie Carlton Gannon; three children, Tim and his wife Brenda Gannon, Sonya and her husband Chip Dodd, and Sam and his wife Allison Gannon; seven grandchildren, Shea Brock and her husband Denton, Luke Gannon and his wife Mandy, Tennyson Dodd and his wife Julia, William Dodd and his wife Krissy, Jacob, Max and Miah; and by three great-grandchildren, Coen, Rory, and Kate.

Mr. Gannon became a Christian at a young age and was a faithful follower of Jesus all his life. He was a member of Kingwood Church of Christ where he served as a song leader and Sunday School teacher. He loved joining fellow Christians to serve at the Disaster Relief Effort in Nashville.

Mr. Gannon spent most of his career working in the insurance business eventually opening Gannon Insurance Agency. Following his career in the insurance field, he spent several years working for the city of Murfreesboro. Mr. Gannon was active in the Murfreesboro community serving as a coach, PTA president, civic leader and for many years he was an active member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as a district governor. In his later years, Mr. Gannon was active at the St. Clair Center and enjoyed leading bus trips across the country

Mr. Gannon’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Stones River Manor for taking such tender care of him during his time there.

A Chapel service will be held for Mr. Gannon at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 11, 2022 in Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Chuck Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home; 820 South Church St. Murfreesboro, TN 37130 (615)893-2422.
