Middle Tennessee head football coach Rick Stockstill announced Wednesday the signing of 24 players to scholarship agreements on National Signing Day.

“I thought we filled our positions nicely across the board,” added Stockstill. “I think all our mid-term guys can come in and help us right away and overall I am very satisfied with the class. We will know more about this class in a couple years but I like their character which is where it all starts for us in recruiting.

The Raiders inked players from eight different states with seven coming from Tennessee, six from Georgia, three each from Florida and California, two from Alabama, and one each from Indiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi. Overall, 16 signees come from the high school ranks and eight are transfers.

Stockstill and his staff signed 11 players on offense. The Blue Raiders added four linemen, five wide receivers, a running back and a quarterback.

Defensively, the Blue Raiders stocked up on linemen and linebacker help among the 12 players signed. The staff inked four defensive linemen (two ends and two tackles), four linebackers, three cornerbacks, and a safety.

Middle Tennessee also signed a placekicker in Crews Holt who is rated among the best in the nation.

Local signed include:

Crews Holt , PK, Ravenwood HS

Chris Myers , DT, La Vergne HS

Tye Nix, DE, Oakland HS

Kylan Stribling, DB, Independence HS

The Blue Raiders, who return 11 starters next year, will begin spring practice on March 17 with the Blue-White Spring Game set for April 16. Mat drills will get underway on Feb. 15.
