The Tennessee Titans made two roster moves on Tuesday’s off day, including one that was of some surprise.
Cornerback Tye Smith, who was a valuable reserve and special teams player last season, was placed on injured reserve by the Titans.
Smith was in the running again for a backup spot in the secondary this year. He had not missed any practice time thus far this season, so Tuesday’s decision was a bit of a surprise in that Smith’s season could be over, unless the Titans decide to bring him back from injured reserve late in the year.
The Titans also waived/injured defensive lineman Claude Pelon, who suffered a knee injury earlier this week in training camp.
To replace them on the roster, the signed a pair of defensive linemen, Johnny Maxey and Du’Vonta Lampkin.
