Mildred Marie Daniel (née Tappan) went home to the Lord Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the age of 93.

Mildred was born August 7, 1926, in Alpena, Michigan, to Martha Bigelow and Walter Tappan. She was the beloved older sister of Walter “Russ” Tappan, Kenneth Tappan, Eileen Thurston, and Patti Bragg.

At the age of 16, MIldred came to know Christ as her Lord and Savior, and her life was forever changed for the better. In 1943, she married the love of her life, William Rudolph Daniel, and together they had one son who she is survived by, William Lee Daniel.

She spent her years writing countless Bible studies, leading vacation Bible school classes, mentoring missionary wives, teaching Sunday school classes for all ages, and serving the church, her community, and God in every aspect of her life. Her study guides are still used today internationally.

Mildred lived a full life traveling across the country, sightseeing with her husband. She was blessed to travel to Israel – as well as many other countries – during her lifetime, and was able to walk the steps that Jesus Christ Himself did. In 1980, they settled in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where they lived out the rest of their days.

When she wasn’t in church, Mildred spent her time baking, gardening, reading Amish fiction, watching the news, writing letters, supporting international missions, playing card and board games, and doting on her grandchildren.

Mildred is survived by her sister, Patti, and her son, William, as well as his wife, Patricia, and several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind three grandchildren – Tricia Kaye Daniel; Dawn Renee Daniel and her husband, Jason; and William Raymond Daniel and his wife, Nicola. She was blessed to have six great-grandchildren: Joshua DiViesta and his wife, Jessica; Jillian Kinzel and her husband, Jason; Kali Beau Daniel; Aric Merly; Cadin Riley England; and Evie Vaun Smith – and three great-great-grandchildren: Jackson Kinzel, Norina DiViesta, and Caroline Kinzel.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 23, 2019, at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at 1 p.m. Service will follow at 2 p.m. Dr. Kenneth Riggs will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Free Will Baptist International Missions Fund for Steve and Becky Riggs.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 820 South Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. 615-893-2422. Please leave online condolences at www.jenningsandayers.com.
