OBITUARY: James “Jimmy” Matthew Taylor

James “Jimmy” Matthew Taylor, 71, of Smyrna, TN passed away on September 9th, 2021.

James is survived by His wife Julia of 31 years, son Jeremy Taylor, daughters Amanda Daniel and Angela Gordon, grandchildren Greyson and Alice Daniel and Noah Gordon, brother Larry Taylor, sisters Bonnie Cain, Jodie Kneller, Theresa Hand, and Jonny Lynn McElvain extended family many cousins, nieces, and nephews. James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to so many. He was preceded in death by his parents Laverne and Johnny Taylor, and his brother Kelly Taylor. His beloved companion Pongo also preceded him in death.

James loved sports and coaching and took great pride in it. He worked at Nissan for 25 years retiring 10 years ago. He loved to fish, hunt, bowl, watch old movies and shows in his spare time. But most of all he loved his family fiercely and spent most of his time with them.

His children want him to know this, “We will always love you Dad. Each day when you were so sick you strived to live but your body grew too weak and weary of the struggle. Our lives have been changed forever since the day you passed on. In heaven, we know you will be waiting for us with open arms.”

“Your love will live forever since your heart has set you free. Now you walk so bravely, you feel the pain no more. Angels have come to guide you and bring you to heaven’s door. Hard days may be before us, it’s all part of God’s plan. Why you left us so soon we may never understand.”

A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Mapleview Cemetery.
