OBITUARY: James Irven Bowers Jr.

Mr. James Irven Bowers, Jr., age 84, of Lascassas, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his residence.

He was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. He retired from Midsouth Bus (formerly Blue Bird) of Tennessee in 2002 after 30 years of service. He also owned and operated bus 85 for many years. But, his great love in life was farming. He was a member of Northfield Boulevard Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.

He was a man who loved his family and his church family. He had a good understanding of electricity and as well as skill in repairing just about anything. Time and memories with his family were of great value to him. But above all, he loved the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Irven Bowers, Sr., and Winnie Leeman Bowers; sister, Helen Johnson, and a brother, Everette Bowers.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Heaton Bowers; daughters, Roffee (Mike) Lamb and Jullee Bailey; sisters, Jean Jamison and Ruby (John) Massey and brother, Robert Bowers; grandchildren, Brad Lamb, Michael (Catlyn) Lamb, Neal Bailey, Jeannie Beth (Tommy) Griffith, and Andrew (Megan) Lamb, Greg Lamb, and Timothy Lamb; great-grandchildren, Addison Lamb and Eli Griffith.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with David Bunting and Mike Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
