Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is excited to welcome Sandy Smith, Director of Maternal Child Services, to its staff.

As Director of Maternal Child Services, Smith will have the responsibility of oversight for all maternal child units, including labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn nursey, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and lactation support. She will be responsible for developing departmental goals and objectives, as well as planning and direction of all clinical daily operations. Additionally, Smith will prepare and monitor budgets for all maternal child areas and work to ensure quality care and excellent patient outcomes by promoting evidence-based practices and a culture of safety.

Prior to joining the Saint Thomas Health team, Smith served as Director of Women and Children’s Services at Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, Assistant Administrative Director of Women’s Services at Vanderbilt Medical Center, and more recently as a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Kentucky. Since joining the medical field in 1990, Sandy has also served as a staff nurse and a nurse manager at a number of health systems.

Smith earned her Practical Nurse Licensure from Madisonville Health Occupational School, her Associate of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University, and her Master’s in nursing with specialization in leadership and nursing from Walden University.

When Smith is not working at Saint Thomas Health, she enjoys playing golf and spending time with her three daughters and their families. She is an active member of College Grove Baptist Church in College Grove, Tennessee.

The Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation team is excited to announce Gina DeJean has joined the Foundation as Director.

In her new role, DeJean will begin a 2018 capital campaign for the Foundation, and support board governance and direction. Her responsibilities will include oversight of the operations and administration of the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation as well as donor relations and fund development. In addition, DeJean will direct and coordinate a number of events for the Foundation, including the Rutherford Society Gala, Wine Around the Square, and Ambassador events. DeJean will also oversee The Ambassadors, Murfree Circle and The Commonwealth Society.

DeJean is actively involved in The Charity Circle of Murfreesboro, Rutherford CABLE as well as sustainer with the Junior League of Murfreesboro.

Prior to joining the Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, DeJean served as a primary care sales representative at Allergan Pharmaceutical and a marketing coordinator at Murfree Dental. She also worked as a clinical trials study coordinator and research assistant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

DeJean earned her B.A. in Psychology from The University of Tennessee. In her free time, DeJean enjoys spending time with her husband Grant DeJean and three children Wills, Elizabeth and James Brickell. The DeJean family attend First United Methodist Church.
