We are also attaching an image of a two-tone truck since some witnesses stated the vehicle was dark in color. It is possible that the truck was dark in color with the lower portion being colored in pewter. Our primary information is that the headlight on the driver side should be missing The grill area and the black plexi-glass hood guard should have significant damage as well. We also believe the truck has Tennessee tags.

We also have determined that our suspect is most likely a female with dark hair. Witnesses state she was wearing a white tank top with black shorts.

If anyone sees a Chevrolet or GMC truck with damage to the front grill/driver headlight area, we urge them to contact Smyrna Police at 615-459-6644.

Original Post:

Last night (7/10/16), at approximately 10:45 pm, Smyrna Police responded to a crash in the area of South Lowry Street at the Nissan Boulevard overpass. The investigation revealed that a Honda scooter was travelling north on Lowry Street when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The scooter operator was knocked off of the scooter and struck by another vehicle. The scooter was dragged by the truck approximately ¼ mile to Stewart Drive when the truck left the roadway and struck an embankment. The suspect driver freed the scooter from the truck and left the scene.

The driver of the scooter was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment but was declared deceased shortly after arrival. She has been identified as Elise Denton (29) of Nashville and her family has been notified.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark grey or pewter colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck. The truck should have damage to the front end and should be missing a driver-side headlight. White paint transfer from the scooter may also be present. We urge anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle or the suspect driver to please contact Smyrna Police at 615-459-6644.
