Today, we posted this video of 3rd grade teacher Mary Morris, from Strawberry Plains, TN, doing a parody of Adeleâs âHello.â Morrisâ parody is called âSnow,â and itâs all about the joy of having a snow day (a joy for both teachers and students!). Our sister site williamsonsource.com got a chance to chat with the creator of this viral video sensation:

Morrisâ video is going viral with many of our readers sharing, commenting and totally relating to her lyrics. We wanted to know more about Mary and how she came to create this parody.
It all started a few weeks ago when she wrote and performed âSnowâ for her fellow teachers after an in-service one day.
âIâve written a song at least once a year over the last four years. The first one was for the teachers. It was a stressful time for TN teachers, and I knew we all needed to laugh about testing and evaluations to keep from crying. After that, I was asked by my principal to write a song about TCAPs. Iâve now done that the last 3 years. The more I listened to âHello,â I knew it would be a perfect parody song. I enjoy singing her songs, and I knew it would be funny to turn a serious song into something not so serious. The idea of writing about snow came to me one afternoon on my way home, and then I wrote it that night.â she said.
She uploaded a video of her school performance and itâs been viewed over 500,000 times.
Morris now has a full-fledged music video for âSnowâ, which has over 200,000 views on YouTube in just a day.
If youâve watched the video, one of the first things youâll notice is that Morris has a great voice (and Adele songs are not easy to pull of), so we wanted to know if she ever wanted to be a professional singer.
âI donât know that I would say itâs been my dream to be a professional singer, but I do love it! If I ever did something professionally,  I would likely try to do something in the realm of Christian music. For right now I enjoy singing at church and in local theatre productions. I feel called to be a teacher, and thatâs what I always wanted to be. But, I continue to look to the Lord for guidance in the future,â she said.
As far as her students goâthey think sheâs famous and they love the song, Morris says.
âA student said (in regards to the inside recess, lose my mind line), Great, now everyone will know how bad we are!â Â They crack me up.â
Morris says sheâll continue to write songs and she might create more music videos. Weâll just have to follow her onYouTube to find out!
