Peggy Anne Fields Collins, age 84, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Pattie Fields; her son, Roger Dale Collins and six siblings. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of almost 67 years, Dale Collins and her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Harold Best. Survivors also include her sister, Phyllis Melton; daughter-in-law, Pam Collins; brothers-in-law, Grayson Ward and Roger Almany; granddaughters Brandi Collins (Shane) and Bailey Davis; grandsons, Christopher Collins (Mandy), Pete Jones (Susan), Grayson Dale Ward (Andree) and Greg Ward. Survivors also include several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Peggy was a “mother” to many. This was especially true when she and her husband welcomed her two sisters, Eileene and Phyllis into their home when they were young girls. The Collins became parents to the sisters and grandparents to their children and grandchildren.

Peggy was born in Washington County, Virginia. The Collins family lived several years in Kingsport, TN and moved to Middle Tennessee in 1976 where Peggy began her career with the Kroger Company. She retired after 20 years of service. She enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday School and “church work” over the years as well as cooking and baking. She managed a church day care while in Kingsport. Her greatest passion, however, was her family and friends. She was truly a wonderful friend, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her sweet smile and unselfish nature are widely recognized.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at The Pentecostals of Murfreesboro Church, 1800 New Lascassas Pike in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Pastor Kevin Allen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The Collins family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness during Peggy’s illness. A special thanks to their niece, Lucy Penley, for coming to Nashville to take care of Peggy. We also appreciate the staff at StoneCrest Medical Center and Alive Hospice who were so kind to her and to us.
