William McKinley Spradley, age 87, of Murfreesboro, passed away on January 13, 2024 at Alive Hospice.
He was born on January 31, 1936 in Murfreesboro and was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County.
William graduated from Central High School then went on to serve in the National Guard for 18 months, then the United States Airforce for 20 years, completing 2 tours in Vietnam. He worked for Consolidated Water for 25 years.
William was a member of Cannon Co. American Legion and the Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, spending time at the lake and spending time with all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Spradley; parents, Monroe and Lucy Mai Spradley; sisters, Dorthy Dubois and Carol Faye Davis; brother-in-law, Edmond Dubois; and grandson-in-law, Tony Spray.
William is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Spradley; daughters, Robin Godsey (David) and Terri Loftus; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Spradley; brothers, Robert Spradley (Elaine), James “Buddy” Spradley (Sheri) and Joe Spradley (Jane); grandchildren, Bobby and Adam Pitts, Cody Godsey, Heather Willow (Chris), Jessica Sullivan (Brad), Karrie Spradley, Connor Spradley, Erica Spray and McKenzie Chockley (Wesley); 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.
Chapel service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 with Tim Fisher officiating and Chris Pirtle speaking. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Bobby Pitts, Adam Pitts, Cody Godsey, Conner Spradley, Tyler Pitts, Wesley Chockley, Levi Willow, Kail Spray and Braylon Chockley serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Spradley, James “Buddy” Spradley, Joe Spradley and David Godsey. William will be celebrated by the United States Airforce with full Military Honors.
