Coming off the best season in the school’s brief history, there is a ton of excitement in the Stewarts Creek football program right now.

The Red Hawks going into their fourth season varsity have improved every year under veteran coach David Martin.

Stewarts Creek went 1-9 in 2013, improved to 2-8 in 2014 and had a winning season of 6-4 barely missing the Class 5A playoffs in 2015.

The Red Hawks return 14 starters (seven on offense, seven on defense) so expectations are high for the newest Rutherford County school.

“Barely missing the playoffs last season has made the kids really hungry this off season,” Martin said. “They have really been working hard in the weight room and are wanting to finish this year very strong and as a coach that is great to see.”

The Wing T offense will be spearheaded by senior fullback Zach Long who became the first 1,000 rusher in school history last season and becoming an all region 5-5A selection.
Also helping out Long (5-7, 160) in the running game will be returning starters in fellow seniors Tre Bailliez (5-11, 190) and Ke’shawn Walker (6-2, 215).
