Top-seeded Blackman, which was relegated to the losers bracket, roared back into contention in the District 7-AAA baseball tournament Tuesday, by eliminating Oakland, 8-3.
Michael DiMartino had a home run and drove in four runs for the Blaze, which now gets a chance to avenge its early tournament loss, as it faces Riverdale today. Riverdale stunned Blackman in the first round of the tournament, but the Warriors dropped a 7-0 decision against Stewarts Creek on Monday.
Daniel Freeman pitched the Red Hawks to the win and also homered in the contest for Stewarts Creek.
In other baseball tournament action, Central Magnet outslugged Upperman, 14-10, in District 8-AA play as Hunter Jones hit a home run and drove in four runs for the Tigers.
Eagleville moved into the District 9-A finals by routing Fayetteville, 10-2, behind the hot hitting of Isaac Gleaves, who had three hits and two RBIs in the victory.
Earlier in the day, Middle Tennessee Christian was eliminated by Fayetteville with an 8-4 setback.
