Hattie Jane’s officially opens this week in downtown Murfreesboro. Join them for their ribbon cutting on March 22 at 11:00 a.m.
This is the second location for the small-batch ice cream shop — which boasts inspired, homemade flavors that frequently use local ingredients — the first of which opened next door to the Puckettâs Gro. in downtown Columbia, Tenn. last summer. The Murfreesboro creamery launched its soft opening to the public last week and has experienced a steady stream of customers despite the inclement weather.
âWe actually had the second location for Hattie Janeâs mapped out before the first even opened,â said Andy Marshall, CEO of A. Marshall Family Foods. âWhen we saw the space for Puckettâs in Murfreesboro last Spring, the layout was perfect for another Hattie Janeâs. We have already seen how Rutherford County is embracing our presence on the square, and itâs really exciting to be part of the areaâs recent growth.â
Marshall is the co-owner of the creamery along with his daughter, Claire Crowell, who is Chief Operating Officer of A. Marshall Family Foods and whose three year old, Hattie Jane, is the conceptâs namesake.
âIce cream and desserts are our familyâs âthing,ââ Crowell said. âWe enjoy traveling together and our trips always include scoping out the best ice cream shops. Itâs a comfort food for us, and itâs special to be able to share that with two communities that we love.â
Unique to the Murfreesboro location is its full-service coffee bar, which offers everything from a regular cup of joe to an affogato — a scoop of ice cream topped with espresso. Regularly utilizing local ingredients and resources whenever possible, Hattie Janeâs enlisted the staff of Columbia-based Muletown Coffee — whose beans are used in the creameryâs popular Mulekick flavor — to train its baristas.
Hattie Janeâs Creamery, located at 116 N. Church St. in Murfreesboro, will be open weekly on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Â Several of its flavors are also offered on the menus of Puckettâs Boat House and Scoutâs Pub, both in Franklin, Tenn., Homestead Manor in Thompsonâs Station, and Puckettâs Gro. in Columbia and Murfreesboro, both of which neighbor the creameryâs two locations.
About Hattie Janeâs Creamery
First opened in summer 2016 in downtown Columbia, Tenn., Hattie Janeâs Creamery takes A. Marshall Family Foods. Inc.âs knack for creating an authentic Southern cooking experience for its patrons and invites them to stick around after dinner for a scoop or two of ice cream. By partnering with local farms and producing the inspired ice cream on-site, the creamery offers a true homemade, unique experience that is signature to the A. Marshall brand. The creameryâs second location will open in downtown Murfreesboro next door to the Puckettâs Gro. & Restaurant in March 2017. To learn more, visit www.hattiejanescreamery.com
