According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, the robbery happened around 11:58 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, after two teenage victims agreed to sell clothing to buyers they met online.

Police said the buyers arrived wearing black clothing and ski masks before pulling an AR-style pistol and a handgun and stealing clothing and cash from the victims.

The suspects left the scene before officers arrived, but investigators were able to identify the vehicle with assistance from the department’s Real Time Crime Center and license plate reader technology.

Officers later located and stopped the vehicle near North Rutherford Boulevard and Alumni Drive after receiving a license plate reader alert. Three juvenile suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The three teens were transported to the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

Murfreesboro Police are reminding residents to use the department’s Meet Up Spot Internet Purchase Exchange Location in the front parking lot for online transactions. Police also recommend meeting in well-lit, populated areas and conducting exchanges during daylight hours whenever possible.
