Hurricane Dorian Affects Labor Day Travel Plans

Hurricane DorianHurricane Dorian is making its way through the western Atlantic Ocean, on track to make U.S. landfall on Monday along Florida or Georgia coasts. Dorian is expected to impact the Bahamas by Saturday night or early Sunday, reports The Weather Channel.

All 67 Florida counties are under a state of emergency.

With thousands of people expected to travel this Labor Day holiday, Dorian’s trajectory could halt many travel plans.

Airline Travel

Several airlines are allowing customers, who were flying to, from or through cities that may be affected by Hurricane Dorian, to change their flights for free. Click on the links below if you have a flight scheduled this weekend to find out if you are eligible to change your flight for free.

As of the writing of this article, many flights departing from Nashville to Florida on Friday, Aug 30, are still scheduled, but many airlines are expecting numerous cancellations over the Labor Day weekend as Hurricane Dorian makes landfall.

Theme Parks/Attractions

Walt Disney World has not yet made a formal announcement about closing the park or reducing hours; however, they do have safety procedures in place for severe weather.

Also,if the NHC issues a hurricane warning for Orlando or the area where the customer lives within seven days of a customer’s arrival date, they can reschedule or cancel Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way vacation packages and most room-only reservations without paying cancellation or change fees. *This does not apply to those who booked their vacation through any service other than Disney, though. Customers could still have to pay cancellation or rescheduling fees imposed by third-party vendors, reports News Week.
