Today Sheriff Robert Arnold will appear in court requesting release. This on the heels of jail phone records showing manipulation and lies.

Next Tuesday a judge will hear the citizens of Murfreesboro in a suit looking to relieve the Sheriff of his duties.

Latest On Arnold

So, Sheriff Arnold has remained busy while in federal prison in Kentucky. Prosecutors will be showing evidence from phone records where Arnold tried to manipulate his wife into lying for him. This included telling her there was a hit out on him, Then later telling his command staff, whom he is in constant contact with that he was lying.

Apparently our sheriff hasn’t gotten the memo about phone calls in federal prison and the fact they can be recorded and used against him.

Within days of being put in jail Arnold was heard telling his wife on the phone:

“Just tell them the truth. That’s the only thing that will get me out of here. You kept coming at me.”

However , court records from the day his bond was revoked show a different story.

The sheriff told his mother the feds and the TBI are trying to get him to testify about JailCigs. He asked his mother to “make sure she stays off the phone with them.”

Despite these continued shenanigans, a judge will hear Arnold’s appeal today for release.

Ouster Suit To Be Heard

Next Tuesday, November 9th, a judge will hear from the citizens of  Rutherford County as they bring an ouster suit against Arnold for the inability to do his job. As of now, Arnold is still in charge …from jail. He is also making his over $120,000 a year salary. But if a group of Rutherford County citizens have their way this will change sooner than later.

A lot hinges on whether Arnold stays in jail, or whether he is released. The suit will be harder to consider if he is released today. While, he may not be “ousted” , a suspension without pay could be ruled on.

We will keep you updated as both these stories develop.
