On Tuesday, October 16, at 9:00 a.m., Amazon will join students at LaVergne Lake Elementary School to celebrate its new breakfast program as part of Amazonâs partnership with Share Our Strengthâs No Kid Hungry campaign. Research shows that students who eat a good breakfast perform better and have improved behavior in the classroom. Yet, of the number of low-income students that qualify for free breakfast, only half actually receive the meal.
Employees from Amazonâs Murfreesboro and Lebanon fulfillment centers will help deliver bananas and engage students in fun activities to emphasize the importance of eating a nutritious breakfast.
This is one of 20 events planned across the country aimed to help address childhood hunger by improving access to a healthy breakfast. Through a partnership with Share Our Strengthâs No Kid Hungry campaign, Amazon is providing 100 school grants to bring breakfast into the classroom, providing three grants in the greater Nashville area. The support is expected to help deliver over 3.1 million breakfasts to more than 29,000 students across the country and is a part of Amazonâs fight against hunger.
