Laura Yepes loves to help people, so when she saw her brother offering his customers healthy shakes and teas in Murfreesboro, she decided she wanted to do the same thing in Smyrna. In mid-October, she opened Smyrna Nutrition and Energy.

“I fell in love with my brother’s mission,” said Yepes, “to help people live a healthier lifestyle and â€Ĥ put a smile on their face. One day I asked him if he would help me open one up, and the opportunity came by us. Here I am a few weeks in and I love it!”

Everything that they offer is from Herbalife Nutrition. The forty-year-old company offers a line of plant-based products filled with vitamins and minerals. Offerings include shakes, tea and coffee. They also have a children’s menu with shakes and electrolyte drinks.

They offer teas with a series of healthy boosters and enhancements that can help with everything from sports nutrition to skincare. Boosters can give extra energy, immunity, and antioxidants. Whatever your taste, they have a flavor sure to please. Some include strawberry lemonade, Hawaiian Punch, Skittles, Sangria, Mai Tai, Lemon Berry, Pineapple Willy, and Gummy Bear. These drinks run between 15 and 90 calories.

Coffees include protein and sugar, with flavors like caramel, expresso, chocolate coconut, and Java chip. They run between 100 and 150 calories.

Shakes are filled with vitamins and minerals and can be a meal replacement. They are rich and thick and tasty. While they are as luscious as a regular shake, they are less than half the calories.

Best-selling flavors are birthday cake, banana nut bread, white chocolate latte, brownie batter, strawberry cheesecake, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and peanut butter cheesecake. But these are only a few of about 40 flavors. There are fruity flavors like lemon pound cake, monster cookie and other peanut butter based flavors, coffee flavors like mocha mint, salted caramel and cinnamon roll, and chocolate-based flavors like Ferrero Roche and Chocolate Banana.

“Business is going good just now,” said Yepes. “We are starting to get the word out a little bit more. My plan for the future is to open up a lot more smoothie shops around Tennessee.”
