Linebaugh Public Library is proud to host The Rutherford County Master Gardeners for a series of classes. The classes are the first Saturday of each month, beginning with February 2, at 9 a.m. in the library Board Room on the 2nd floor. Each class is free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated either online or by visiting the front desk at Linebaugh.
Here are the topics for 2019:
February 2: Garden Planning and Prep. Killing off turf, starting seeds, spacing, crop rotation.
March 2: Planting for Pollinators. Plants that attract pollinators, which plants attract which pollinators.
April 6: Herbs and Creating Container Gardens. Using and designing containers, growing herbs.
May 4: Growing Vegetables. How to grow vegetables, when to plant, spacing, etc.
June 1: Planting in Sun and Shade. Flowers, ferns, succulents, and more. What requirements do they have and proper placement?
July 6: The Good and the Bad of Gardening. Pests and Diseases, Weeds.
August 3: Keep your Garden Going. Deadheading and garden ‘housekeeping’ to prolong the beauty.
September 7: Fall Gardening — It’s Not Over Yet! What to plant- cool season crops and fall flowers/spring bulbs to plant now.
October 5: Soils 101. Taking a soil test, amending soil, composting.
November 2: Becoming a Master Gardener Open House. Come see what being a Master Gardener is all about! Applications will be available and MGs will be on site to answer any questions!
