Since it the NFL “New Year” begins this afternoon, many teams apparently have already got deals in place. In one of the biggest moves/gambles in franchise history they have made a trade for RB DeMarco Murray with the Eagles. The deal will be official this afternoon, according to many sources and Murray’s agent . Besides the money the Titans trade their fourth round pick (#1 ) for the Eagles fourth round pick (#13).

Murray’s new deal with the Titans will be for $25.5 million, with $12.5 million guaranteed, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com.

Last year was abyssmal for Murray. He wasn’t happy with the offense or the head coach. Yeah, that’s right , another player not happy with Chip Kelly, the same Chip Kelly who coached the guy handing Murray the ball to a National Championship. The upside to Murray is if he returns to 2012-2013 numbers this will be a steal. If he was truly unhappy in Philadelphia, which is understandable, can a return to the loving arms of a team in the South change his mindset? Some “professionals”  out there say Murray needs an offensive line like the one he had in Dallas to succeed. This seems like common sense, most running backs need a good offensive line. The jury is out, we will see if Murray’s scat-like abilities compliment recently re-signed Antonio Andrews run -you-over style to take pressure off Mariota.

Titans Sign Top Center From Texans

In an effort to shore up the offensive line, the Titans went back home to Texas . Houston to be exact, to sign former Georgia standout Ben Jones. The four year pro , reportedly has signed a 4 year contract with the Titans. Jones has the versatility to play both left guard and center. Where he starts, and it would be hard for him not to start on this line, is the question. He never missed a game with the Texans and is labeled as a tough guy who played on a bad leg and with a bad back last year.

Titans Build A Cassel

According to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com , former Chiefs and Cowboys starting QB Matt Cassel has signed a one year contract and will be backing up Mariota at QB.

Is Rishard Matthews Coming?

The 26 year old 6’0 WR from Miami is on the Titans wish list according to rumors. When the Dolphins came here last year he looked like an All-Pro with 6 catches for 85 yards. But, then again, we made a lot of wide receivers look good last season. He has spent his whole career trying to catch passes from the Miami QB carousel. Might be worth it if the price is right. I mean he’s no Harry Douglas…but I regress

Pretty sure the Titans will be making more moves , at least we won’t be able to blame the new management on not making moves in free agency.
