Wake up from hibernation, Polar Bears, and let’s take the plunge! The 15th annual Polar Bear Plunge will be held on January 7, 2017.

The big slides at the outdoor pool will be turned on to take the plunge to another level. Brave men, women and children from around the area will don costumes and swimwear and take “polar” dips into “Boro Beach,” the Sports*Com Outdoor Pool. There’s a reason to be freezin’â€Ĥcanned food donations will be given to Greenhouse Ministries.

The Polar Bear Plunge is hosted by the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and will take place in the outdoor pool “Boro Beach” at Sports*Com. The Polar Bear Plunge is open to anyone who is a fan of having a good time for a good cause. For plungers under 18 years, a waiver/release form must be signed by a parent/guardian.

Each Polar Bear is requested to bring nonperishable food items to donate. All plunging Polar Bears can purchase an official Polar Bear Plunge commemorative t-shirt on the day of the event.

The average water temperature hovers around 40 degrees but you may warm up after in the heated indoor pool. At 8:30 a.m. the Sports*Com gym will once again be transformed to an Arctic Adventure for families to play games, play on inflatable’s, drink coffee or hot chocolate, eat donuts, and register for the plunge. At 10 a.m., plungers and spectators will make their way to the outdoor pool to take the plunge!
