This free event is a celebration of the arts in Murfreesboro. Open to the community, Summer Arts Jam will be an opportunity for locals and visitors to come together for an evening of arts, entertainment and live music.

The evening begins with an artist fair at 5:00 p.m. A variety of local and regional artist booths demonstrating and selling artwork will line the plaza. There will be food trucks, and downtown restaurants and shops will be open.

At 5:30 p.m. a special children’s event will take place at the Linebaugh Library, 105 W. Vine Street. Interactive storyteller Dee Kimbrell will thoroughly entertain as she incorporates the
audience to be an active part of each story.

At 7:00 p.m. the first band will take the stage. The Marcela Pinilla Band is influenced by popular Latin rhythms, rumba, flamenco and Latin jazz, giving their sound a dynamic, versatile and joyful quality all its own.

Next up is Murfreesboro’s own Secret Commonwealth. Middle Tennessee’s most enduringly popular Celtic band since their inception in 1993, their music mixes original material with
traditional music and many styles of American and European folk.

Mountains Like Wax will conclude the concert. Also a Murfreesboro favorite, they satisfy hungry fans one show at a time with their relentlessly poignant and exuberant Southern post-rock. Having played over 50+ shows in the past year, they are proving to be a band to watch as they charge to the forefront of Middle Tennessee’s burgeoning indie rock scene.
