OBITUARY: John P. Sloan, Sr

John P. Sloan, Sr., age 72 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, died Monday, April 1, 2019 following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Springfield, Tennessee and was a son of the late Maxie and Ann Sloan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Porter and Callie Corbin.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Sloan; son, Jay Sloan of Murfreesboro; step son, Jeremy Ray of Seabrook, TX; a grandson, Corbin Sloan; siblings, Maxie Sloan and wife Fran of South Carolina, Joyce Clark and husband Jimmy of Cedar Hill, Brenda Horne and husband Frank of Mt. Juliet, Linda Miller and husband Brian of Watertown, and Gary Sloan and wife Michelle of Arrington; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mr. Sloan was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Blackman United Methodist Church.

Visitation with the Sloan family will be 3:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A funeral service with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Stockton officiating. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Nashville.
