A Murfreesboro man and woman have been arrested and charged with a string of commercial business burglaries that occurred over three months.

25-year-old Jalen Ellison was taken into custody by uniformed officers after a traffic stop at Maymont Drive and East Clark Blvd. around 1:58 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22. The car Ellison was driving matched the description of a vehicle that was at the scene of several of the burglaries.

As officers were conducting the traffic stop, 20-year-old Kayla Lyons arrived riding a bicycle. Lyons matched the description of a female captured on video at several of the burglaries. She was also taken into custody.

“I want to personally thank Midnight Patrol, Directed Patrol and CID Property detectives for their hard work and willingness to work additional hours in getting these two individuals into custody,” said CID Detective Tommy Massey. “Being able to get them off the streets is a testament to the hard work done by our officers and detectives.”

Ellison and Lyons have been linked to 19 commercial burglaries dating from Aug. 27 – Nov. 18. Both are currently charged with the following:

Six-counts of Burglary
Three-counts of Theft under $1,000
Six-counts of Vandalism under $1,000
Ellison could face 13 additional burglary charges and Lyons could face nine more burglary charges. The cases will be presented to a Rutherford County Grand Jury.

There were also two outstanding warrants for Ellison for Assault on an Officer and refusing to Stop, Halt and Frisk. Lyons had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear.

Lyons was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Her bond was set at 32,000. Ellison was also booked. His bond was set at $31,500.
