Middle Tennessee men’s golf coach Brennan Webb announced today that Joey Savoie would be transferring to the Blue Raiders from Saint Leo University for his senior year in 2016-17. Savoie is a two-time Division II Ping All-American.

“We are very excited for Joey to join us at Middle Tennessee,” said Webb.  “He is a world class amateur who has competed and had a tremendous amount of success at the highest levels of amateur golf. Not only will he be a great player for us on the course, but he will bring a strong set of leadership traits that will have an effect on the program long after he has completed his career. Being part of a National Champion last year at the D2 level is an invaluable experience that I know will help us grow in 2016-17. Joey had a lot of options, but he saw the opportunity that is in front of us here at Middle Tennessee and we couldn’t be happier to have him in our program.”

Savoie helped lead Saint Leo to its first-ever National Championship in 2016 by finishing 11th overall that included a low-round of 66. He completed his junior year ranked 20th nationally in scoring average at 72.21 and went on to earn DII Ping Third Team All-American honors.
