Enchanted Flower Shop: Creating Art With Each Arrangement

Susan Thompson sees flowers as her artistic medium of choice. For twenty years she has been creating exquisite arrangements from flowers, both real and artificial, as well as rustic fruits. Her store, Enchanted Flower Shop on Cason Lane in Murfreesboro, is different than other floral shops. She calls it a boutique.

“We … [offer] customized arrangements,” said Thompson. “You can stop in and pick one stem, or multiple stems. You can pick your container. You can take your flowers wrapped or we will arrange them in the container that you chose while you wait. We work at the front of our store so you can watch your arrangement being made. A little entertainment while you wait!”

Thompson has always been crafty. She says that she loves how she can take a live flower and turn it into a piece of art.

“Two of my favorite creations are the classic centerpieces with tapered candles,” said Thompson, “and the other is live fresh flower pumpkins. They are so cute filled with fresh flowers. It’s always fun getting your hands inside the pumpkin!”

She began her business in 2016 by working out of her house, and opened the location on Cason Lane in August of this year. She is from a family of artists, florists, builders, and bakers. Her family is where she gets her passion. Her love of craft. And she finds joy in the support of her husband and two children. Thompson treasures being a small family-owned business because she appreciates making her customers happy, taking pride in her work.

“I specialize in all things floral,” said Thompson. “My main specialty and passion is wedding florals. I have done weddings for as many as 500 guests.”

The rose is her favorite flower. She is enchanted by the many different colors and varieties of roses. They can be paired with any flower of any style or color.

“I use a rose in just about everything I do,” said Thompson. “Baby eucalyptus is my favorite greenery. I love the whimsy, the look, the color, and most of all the smell of it. My rustic fruit and flower combos are almost like comfort in a box. You have something pretty to look at and something yummy to eat!”

The shop mainly offers flowers, but they also have some artificial floral pieces, and live plants. Customers can choose a basic vase, or she can create a wreath, buttoner, bouquet, or custom piece.
