On November 5th, 2016, Hanna Nordin, Abby Keen, and Ryan Pierce, students in the BHS Event Planning and Management class, will host a fall festival at Blackman High School to raise money for Candle Wishes. The focus of this fundraiser is to prepare students for real life experiences in planning, organizing, and implementing events, while directly supporting a non-profit organization, Candle Wishes. For the festival, we plan to have booths such as apple bobbing, face painting, hayrides, a craft booth, and much more! The entry fee will be five dollars for each person who wants to play. We will also have a pumpkin pie eating contest, which will be two dollars more in order to participate. However, there will only be a certain amount of spots; therefore, it will be first come first serve. Pie eating contests will be held at 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. and prizes will be awarded.

Candle Wishes is a local, charitable organization that provides birthday parties and presents for children in need throughout our community. The organization was founded by Jenny King Williams a Blackman High School student in 2002, so this year they are celebrating their fifteenth anniversary. On average, they provide gifts and parties to about 700 children per year, and it’s still growing. We are celebrating the fifteenth anniversary in hopes of bringing more attention to their organization and give back to their worthy cause.
