Dozens of local talented artists will once again display and sell their creative work along the Greenway trail within Old Fort Park Saturday, September 21, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the 17th Annual Greenway Art Festival.
Hosted by the Cultural Arts division of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of the Greenway, the festival will be located at the Old Fort Park trailhead, 916 Golf Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
âThis is a one-of-a-kind family-friendly event,â said Lisa Browning, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department event coordinator. âWe are excited to host over 70 fine artists working with a variety of mediums.â
The theme âCross Pollination Art and Nature in Harmony,â was chosen to reflect the synergy of whatâs going on in the Murfreesboro Arts community. âJust like plants, animals and insects work together to flourish, artists from all genres are coming together to build each other up resulting in a flourishing arts community,â said Browning.
Attendees will enjoy live musical performances throughout the day as well as original art (oil paint, watercolor, pottery, textiles, metal, glass, sculpture and jewelry), installation art, music, food vendors and art activities for all ages.
âWe will celebrate arts organizations from throughout Rutherford County, learn the benefits of cross-pollination in nature and among the artisan community, and stroll along a trail enjoying our region’s talented artisans all in a family-friendly park setting,â Browning said.
Murfreesboro artist Ginny Togrye said, âI always enjoy participating in the Greenway Art Festival not only as an artist but as an art lover. It is amazing to see so many great artisans brought together for one event.â
âThe newly formed Rutherford Arts Alliance is a prime example of artists from different genres working together. We are excited to give them a feature spot alongside other long-standing arts organizations this year,â said Browning.

Performances, admission and parking are free.
All Greenway Art Festival artwork is original and created by the artists; no mass-produced, commercially manufactured work or work manufactured from kits or molds will be displayed.
In the event of heavy rains, the festival will be canceled. The event will not be rescheduled or moved to an indoor location.
