On a Sunday night in Conference USA the Lady Raiders played host to the UAB Blazers. This night was no ordinary C-USA game, it was Senior Night at MTSU, for a team with one senior. That lone senior, Ty Petty.

During Ty Petty’s last game at The Murphy Center she must have stopped by the bank first because she was handing out dimes all game. Racking up a season high, 12 assists on the night. She wouldn’t have her biggest scoring effort of the season, only nine, but her team didn’t need that from her tonight. She played gritty defense, igniting several MTSU runs, establishing a sizable lead all night.

“I felt like when we recruited her she would do exactly what she’s doing,” MT head coach Rick Insell said. “She’s just a phenomenal young lady. She’s one of those type of players that you don’t get often, and we’ve been very fortunate here that we’ve been able to enjoy her career.”

Conference USA Standings

The Ladies Raiders stay in the number two spot in the rankings, behind rival WKU with tonight’s victory. However, they do now secure a first round bye in the C-USA tournament. The ladies still have two games left before tourney play which will consist of a Sunshine State trip. First at FIU, March 2nd then, March 4th at Florida Atlantic, respectively. Tournament play begins March 8th in Birmingham, Alabama.
