Update On Motorcycle Officer Stern After Vehicle Crash

” Yesterday afternoon Motorcycle Officer Matthew Stern was responding to an injury crash at I24 and S. Church St. when he and another vehicle collided on Memorial Blvd. near Irongate. Officer Stern sustained serious injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt where he is currently in stable but serious condition. He is scheduled to undergo several surgeries over the next several hours and days. I can’t discuss specific injuries due to medical privacy concerns. If his situation changes, I will be sure to update you and keep you informed. I know many of our news partners have been praying for Matthew and for our department. Thank you, and please continue.

Officer Stern is a member of the Motorcycle Unit and has been with the MPD for 9 years.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The MPD would like to thank the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department, Rutherford County EMS, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and all of those involved in the response to this crash. ” – Kyle Evans | Sergeant, Public Information Officer, Murfreesboro Police Department

  1. I was putting groceries in the car when it happened and I was watching the man give him CPR. I was so glad to see him moving and I am praying for him and his family. As always my family and I stand behind our officers!!!
