Families can pick up free backpacks and school supplies during the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the MMC Lascassas Pike campus, 2668 Lascassas Pike. Sheriff’s deputies will distribute 700 backpacks filled with school supplies to parents and caregivers, thanks to donations from Redstone Federal Credit Union and MMC.
The event will also include free child car seat safety checks performed by sheriff’s deputies who are certified child passenger safety technicians.
Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of food and toiletries for Rutherford County Schools’ ATLAS program, which supports students experiencing homelessness. School Resource Officer Chad Dodson will collect the donations.
The Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Redstone Federal Credit Union, Ascension Saint Thomas, and MMC Pediatrics for the event. Anyone with questions can contact Deputy Laura Kunce at 615-904-3065.
