A La Vergne woman is expected to face a vehicular homicide by intoxication charge after a crash in Nashville early Tuesday that killed a 30-year-old man.
The crash happened around 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Harding Place and Linbar Drive.
Investigators said 32-year-old Lizbeth Delgado Cruz was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon west on Harding Place when she ran a red light and crashed into the driver’s side of a 2019 Nissan Altima driven by Martin Villagomez Jr., 30, of Nashville.
Both drivers were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Villagomez died from his injuries.
Police said a nurse at the hospital reported smelling alcohol on Delgado Cruz. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication once she is released from the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
