An 18-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and several other felonies following a shooting at a Murfreesboro hotel last week.
Murfreesboro Police said Kendall Luckey was arrested after detectives determined he allegedly pulled a handgun and fired at two men as they entered an Extended Stay hotel on Aug. 7.
According to the investigation, one of the men returned fire, striking Luckey and another man who was with him. The two then ran to the parking lot of the nearby Tennessee College of Applied Technology, where officers detained them. Both injured men were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Luckey was taken into custody Aug. 9 after being released from the hospital.
He is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of reckless endangerment involving a deadly weapon, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony and felony possession of Schedule VI drugs.
Luckey is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $655,000 bond. A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
Police said no charges have been filed against the other shooter because investigators believe he may have acted in self-defense. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges could be considered after it is presented to a grand jury.
