La Vergne Police Department Hosts Car Seat Safety Check

The La Vergne Police Department is holding a child passenger safety seat check-up event to help parents ensure their children are safe while in the car.

On Friday, August 17 multiple techs will be in the parking lot of City Hall, 5093 Murfreesboro Road, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

More than 3,100 children in the U.S died in motor vehicle-related incidents in 2016 according to Safe Kids Worldwide and when installed and used correctly, child safety seats decrease the risk of fatal injury by 71% among infants, 5% among toddlers and 45% among children ages 4-8.

This event is also part of a Child Passenger Safety Tech certification course to certify more techs to help the city provide more events like this in the future.
