Nashville, TN (May, 2018) – The Gentle Barn is a national non-profit animal sanctuary that rescues animals from abuse and neglect and provides them a place to heal. When the animals are ready, they are paired with at-risk youth and troubled teens for emotional and trust building therapy. In 2015, The Gentle Barn was contacted by a friend of a cattle rancher, near Nashville, about a young steer, who had lost a hoof and was in need of help. The Gentle Barn stepped in and orchestrated the very complicated recovery of this animal, who touched many lives. Through many operations and months of rehabilitation, and the successful fitting of a prosthetic hoof, this young, courageous steer became known to the world as Dudley.

The property we are moving to is also much larger and will allow us to rescue more animals. The Gentle Barn was founded as a sanctuary for abused animals and children and has evolved into a global movement for a more gentle, healthy, and sustainable world.”
The Gentle Barn is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign to prepare the Nashville property to welcome Dudley’s family. New fences need to be built, the barns need repair and moving the animals must be done with the utmost care. The Gentle Barn Nashville will be Dudley’s legacy and the miraculous work done there will honor his memory.
