September 24, 2023 – A Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) firefighter suffered a minor injury on the scene of a small fire inside a hotel mechanical room on Sunday, September 24.
The firefighter stepped into a hole and injured her ankle. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, evaluated and released.
MFRD crews responded to the Clarion Inn and Suites at 7:32 this morning for a reported fire in a mechanical room near the pool. When crews arrived, there was smoke in the atrium area. The sprinkler system activated and doused the fire.
Firefighters used fans to clear smoke from the building.
A few guests in the immediate area were briefly evacuated until it was safe to return to their rooms.
The fire is under investigation.
