Middle Tennessee head football coach Rick Stockstill announced today the signing of 25 players to scholarship agreements on National Signing Day.

“I thought we filled our positions nicely across the board. We still have one on offense that we will try to fill later but wanted to save one for any possible graduate transfer or another great player who may come available,” added Stockstill. “I think all our mid-term guys can come in and help us right away and overall I am very excited with the class. We will know more about this class in a couple years but I like their character which is where it all starts for us in recruiting.

“We have a great product to sell at Middle Tennessee. We graduate 97 percent of our players, go to bowl games, and play on television basically each week. You can do it all at Middle Tennessee which makes getting a class like this a lot easier.”

The Blue Raiders inked players from nine different states and Canada with seven coming from Tennessee, six from Georgia, three from Florida, two from Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas, and one each from Kentucky, Arizona and Toronto, Canada. Overall, 17 signees come from the high school ranks and eight are transfers.

Stockstill and his staff signed 12 players on offense. The Blue Raiders added five wide receivers, four linemen, two running backs and a quarterback.

Defensively, the Blue Raiders stocked up on linebackers and secondary help among the 13 players signed. The staff inked four safeties, four linebackers, three cornerbacks, and two linemen.

The Blue Raiders, who return 12 starters (6 offense, 6 defense) next year, will begin spring practice on March 16 with the final spring workout set for April 15. Mat drills will get underway on Feb. 17.
