Support Shop with the Sheriff’s Office fund-raiser Tuesday at Toot’s
Tootâs diners can provide Christmas for less fortunate children by donating to the Shop with the Sheriffâs Office during a fund-raiser Tuesday at Tootâs on Broad Street and Tootâs South.
The Sheriffâs Office hopes to raise funds to take about 32 children Christmas shopping Dec. 10 at Target, said Sheriffâs Sgt. Jimmy Cassidy, who is coordinating the event.
âFor most children, this will be their only Christmas,â Sgt. Cassidy said. âIt is fantastic to see these kids run through the store. Itâs a great touching moment when they shop for their siblings and their parents.â
School Resource Officers and Sheriffâs Citizens Academy Alumni Association members will ask Tootâs diners to contribute from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Tootâs at 860 Northwest Broad St. and Tootâs South at 2992 S. Church St.
Tootâs President/Owner Wade Hays said the Tootâs staff enjoys helping.
âTootâs mission is, and always has been, to help needy children,â Hays said.
Cassidy said the children are chosen through the Rutherford County School system.
Funds collected at Tootâs will be used by the children to shop for their own presents Dec. 10. They will be accompanied by Sheriffâs deputies, SROs and alumni.
âWe thank everyone who donates to make Christmas special for these grateful children,â Cassidy said.
