Gloria Jean McBride, age 74, of Murfreesboro died August 24, 2018 at her home surrounded by her husband and son after a lengthy battle with MS and cancer.
She was born Oct. 26, 1943 in Texarkana, Arkansas to James Lewis and Ruthlean Puryear Martin, who preceded her in death.
Gloria graduated from Arkansas High School, Texarkana in 1961.
She attended Texarkana Jr. College and Centenary College, Shreveport, LA .
She received her BS in Education from Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia in 1966 with a minor in art.
She taught school in Wilma, AR, Texarkana, AR, and Texarkana, Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Ronald E. McBride; only child, Matthew McBride and his wife Lauren; and three very special granddaughters, Madison, Marlee, and Eliana, all of Murfreesboro.

Gloria was an active member of First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Noel Schoonmaker officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Members of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church WEE School, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
