A Murfreesboro Police detective has been indicted on multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of financial misconduct.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a Rutherford County grand jury indicted Reginal D. Primas on Aug. 4 on one count of theft, one count of forgery, two counts of falsifying a government document, and 13 counts of official misconduct.
The investigation began Jan. 7 at the request of 16th Judicial District Attorney General Jennings Jones. TBI agents and investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury determined that Primas allegedly used Murfreesboro Police Department confidential funds for personal purchases, falsified government documents, and accessed the Criminal Justice Portal for reasons unrelated to his official duties.
Primas was arrested and booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
The TBI noted that the charges are allegations, and Primas is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
