Here are our picks for Rutherford County Player of the Week after the conclusion of Week 10. Our list includes two new names and three familiar ones.
Taylor Yancey, quarterback, Riverdale
Riverdale beat Warren County 47-7, thanks to a great effort from Yancey. The Warriors’ quarterback was 9-of-9 for 184 yards passing with two touchdowns.
Jalen Locklayer, safety, Oakland
Oakland beat Cookeville, 35-14, behind a great game from Locklayer. He had nine total tackles and broke up two passes, and returned a fumble for a score.
Lelan Wilhoite, running back, Siegel
Wilhoite had his usual terrific game on Friday, rushing 26 times for 186 yards and four scores, and catching a pass for 10 more yards. Siegel beat Coffee County, 43-35.
Jeron Rooks, running back, Oakland
It wouldn’t seem like a week of Rutherford County football without a Jeron Rooks appearance on our list. Rooks ran 19 times for 137 yards and two scores, and caught two passes for 26 yards. Oakland remained unbeaten with a 35-14 win over Cookeville.
Ethan Cobb, quarterback, Eagleville
Cobb has performed well week-in and week-out for Eagleville. On Friday, the junior had seven carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns, and was 11-of-12 passing for 220 yards and two scores, as the Eagles beat Loretto, 56-33.
