
The 76-year-old woman hit by a driver in the parking lot of Kroger on S. Church Street on Sunday, August 24, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, after being severely injured in the hit-and-run crash.
The victim was airlifted to the hospital by helicopter in critical condition. An autopsy has been requested to determine the exact cause of death.
Police arrested the driver, Heather Keller, 44, of Murfreesboro, on Monday, August 25, at approximately 8:10 p.m. Keller is charged with reckless aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment with a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, failure to render aid, and driving on a revoked license. She was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $28,500 bond.
The Rutherford County District Attorney’s Office has been notified of the victim’s death, and authorities say Keller could face upgraded charges.
Police initially released photos seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect before Keller was located and taken into custody. The crash remains under investigation.
