The final two days of the Williamson County Fair have arrived, but that doesn’t mean it’s winding down. Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12 are jam-packed with ongoing educational exhibits, attractions, thrilling midway rides, and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. both nights. Free eclipse glasses will be given away at the gates to the first 8,000 guests courtesy of Vanderbilt Health, a presenting sponsor.
The gates open at 6 p.m. tonight, and the evening’s attractions include two musical highlights: Cody Ray Slaughter gives a nod to the King of Rock and Roll with an Ultimate Elvis Tribute beginning at 8 p.m. on the Vanderbilt Health Stage inside the arena. Doug Williamson will perform on the outdoor Nissan Bluegrass Stage at 9 p.m. The arena will close at 10 p.m., while the midway stays open until midnight.
Saturday, August 12 is “Patriot Day,” where all active and retired military individuals are admitted free with a military ID. Don’t miss the youth robotics contest, happening in the 4-H & Youth Village at 1 p.m. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the honey extraction demonstration, that’s also at 1 p.m. on the arena’s mezzanine level.
At 4 p.m. on the arena stage, Williamson County 4-H members will put on ‘Fun with Fashion’ and ‘Clover Collection’ fashion shows. The Fun with Fashion Show will feature clothing that was purchased with a certain scenario and budget in mind; the Clover Collection Fashion Show is a chance for youth to model their own clothing and accessories designs. The Clover Collection show is a qualifying event for a Regional Fashion Show at the Tennessee State Fair.
Local bakery My Sweet Dessert will offer a cupcake decorating workshop and contest from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the 4-H & Youth Village.
Raffle tickets have been sold all week long for a quilt made with last year’s Quilt Block Challenge entries. At 5:30 p.m., the winner will be drawn on the arena stage.
At 8 p.m., The Swon Brothers, who gained notoriety as finalists on NBC’s The Voice in 2013, will perform on the arena stage. The sibling duo from Muskogee, Okla. released their self-titled, major-label debut album in 2014 which produced a Top 15 hit, “Later On.” Known for their harmonies and charming personalities, the duo was nominated for both CMA and ACM Awards for “Vocal Duo of the Year” in 2014 and a CMT Music Award for “Duo Video of the Year” in 2015.
The Fair is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, and the midway will stay open until midnight.
